A extended cruise through Australia was terminated in the wake of the tragic passing of an older woman who was left behind by the cruise liner on a distant island.

The elderly woman had been hiking on the tropical location with fellow passengers from the cruise ship, but broke off from the party for a break. The vessel left without her and went back later that day after the ship staff discovered the lady was unaccounted for.

A major rescue mission discovered her person the subsequent day.

Officials are investigating the incident, alongside investigators and the official investigator.

Chief Executive of the voyage organizer stated that passengers and staff on the ship were told that the rest of the journey had been terminated due to the "unfortunate death and prior technical problems".

Through an announcement, he further stated that guests would be provided a full refund, and said the organization was working "to coordinate the homeward trips of the passengers via specially arranged planes".

Officials also published an updated announcement, and said they had "delivered a notice to the Commander" prohibiting any further travelers from boarding the liner.

The official said that they would attend the vessel in Cairns upon its return.

Sequence of Events

The liner initially left Cairns on the 24th of October, and was only 48 hours into the journey at the time of the senior passenger's death. The remote island was the opening port on the journey.

Travelers on board - who usually pay tens of thousands of currency to join the cruise - were taken there for a daily excursion with the option of walking or underwater exploration.

Next of Kin Response

The offspring of the deceased woman said that her relatives was "stunned and distressed that the vessel left Lizard Island after an organised outing without my mother".

In her statement, she portrayed her parent as an "energetic 80-year-old" who was a participant of a bushwalking organization.

"From the little details we have been informed, it appears that there was a breakdown of responsibility and ordinary reasoning," she stated.

She added that she hoped the investigation would be able to pinpoint what "the organization should have undertaken that might have saved Mum's life".

"Based on information from the police that it was a extremely warm day, and mother took sick on the uphill trek," she revealed.

"She was asked her to head down, unescorted. Then the vessel sailed away, reportedly without conducting a passenger count.

"During some point in that chain of events, or soon after, mum succumbed, without company."

Through an announcement, the Chief Executive affirmed that the company was "cooperating fully with investigators to support their inquiry".

He mentioned that the firm was "deeply sorry that this has happened" and had extended its full support to the loved ones.

The vessel serves up to one hundred twenty travelers with 46 crew, according to corporate details. It was specially constructed to reach distant areas of the nation's shoreline and is outfitted with "tenders" - small boats used to take individuals on land visits.

Occurrences like this are uncommon, and liners have procedures to record which passengers are boarding or getting off, according to maritime specialists.
